Job protection
The Zambia Union of Government and Allied Workers (UG) regards Job protection as a fundamental aspect of our union's mission, as we strive to ensure that all employees are treated fairly and justly in their workplaces. Our primary goal is to safeguard against any form of unfair treatment that may arise in the work environment. This includes not only preventing unjustified terminations but also addressing issues such as discrimination and harassment.
UG actively engages in negotiations with employers to establish clear policies and practices that promote a safe and respectful workplace. We also offer legal assistance and representation for members facing unfair practices, ensuring they have someone to turn to when they feel vulnerable.
We encourage all workers to proactively notify the union regarding any relevant issues or concerns they may have. Timely communication is very important, as it allows the union to intervene effectively and provide the necessary support or resolution. Whether it's a matter related to workplace conditions, unfair treatment, or any professional grievance, we want to ensure that your voice is heard and addressed properly.
For any professional grievances, we have a department of Professional Affairs, which operates within all of our union structures. This department serves as a specialized resource for our members, ensuring that grievances are handled with the utmost care and professionalism. Our team is trained to provide assistance, guidance, and advocacy, making it easier for workers to navigate their concerns and find appropriate resolutions. We believe that an open line of communication between the workers and the union is essential for fostering a supportive workplace environment. Therefore, we urge you to reach out to us with any issues you might be facing, knowing that your concerns will be met with understanding and a commitment to finding workable solutions. Together, we can create a stronger, more equitable workplace for everyone.
